Offer description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Payable Team Leader to join a thriving Blue Chip Organisation based in Bolton. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative and supportive environment, where your ability to nurture and develop others will be highly valued. You will play a pivotal part in shaping the Accounts Payable function, ensuring that processes are robust, controls are effective, and the team consistently delivers high-quality results. With a focus on fostering a culture of togetherness and professional growth, this position offers you the chance to make a real impact by guiding your team through change, supporting business improvement projects, and building strong relationships across the organisation. If you are looking for a role that combines people development with operational excellence, all within a flexible and inclusive workplace, this could be the perfect next step for you.
As an Accounts Payable Team Leader, you will be responsible for nurturing a talented group of specialists within a busy shared services environment. Your days will involve guiding your team through complex transactional processes, ensuring accuracy in invoice processing, payment runs, and reconciliations. You will foster open communication channels with suppliers and internal stakeholders alike, resolving queries with empathy and efficiency. By allocating tasks thoughtfully and providing regular feedback, you will help each team member reach their potential while maintaining high standards of compliance. Your involvement in business improvement initiatives means you'll have plenty of opportunities to shape how things are done-making this role ideal if you enjoy sharing knowledge, supporting others' growth, and contributing positively to organisational change.
Provide day-to-day guidance and nurturing support to the Accounts Payable team, monitoring end-to-end processes while offering constructive feedback to help each member grow.
Ensure invoices and credits are processed accurately and promptly, including coding, posting, and obtaining necessary authorisations for non-purchase order items.
Oversee supplier statement reconciliations against the Accounts Payable ledger, resolving discrepancies efficiently and reporting relevant accruals to country finance teams.
Prepare payment runs from start to finish, collaborating with other departments to guarantee timely and correct payments.
Model positive behaviours by embedding a high-performance culture where every team member understands their contribution to wider finance objectives.
Allocate roles and responsibilities thoughtfully across the team, making sure everyone's skills are utilised effectively using best practice workforce management principles.
In this Accounts Payable Team Leader position, your proven background in managing accounts payable functions within complex organisations will set you up for success. Your natural empathy allows you to connect with team members individually-helping them develop their skills while ensuring everyone feels included. You bring excellent communication abilities that enable you to explain financial information clearly regardless of audience or context. Your approachability makes it easy for others to seek your guidance when challenges arise. You thrive when collaborating across departments or geographies-always seeking ways to improve processes for everyone's benefit. Your reliability means colleagues trust you implicitly with sensitive information or urgent tasks.
Demonstrated experience leading an end-to-end Accounts Payable process within a shared services or similar environment is essential for success in this role.
A keen eye for detail combined with a commitment to delivering work of the highest quality ensures accuracy throughout all financial transactions.
Flexibility and adaptability enable you to respond positively to changing priorities while balancing multiple demands effectively.
Proven ability to nurture and motivate teams through goal setting, performance management, and supportive feedback is crucial.
Excellent interpersonal skills allow you to build trusting relationships with colleagues at all levels as well as external suppliers.
Strong organisational abilities mean you can meet deadlines without compromising on quality or compliance standards.
A positive attitude towards change helps you embrace new systems quickly while suggesting practical improvements along the way.
Experience working across multiple locations or business units-and handling different currencies-is highly desirable.
A track record of holding yourself accountable while creating an environment where others feel empowered to perform at their best is important.
Solid working knowledge of MS Office products (especially Excel) supports your ability to analyse data effectively.
This organisation stands out as an employer that truly values its people-offering flexible working opportunities tailored around individual needs alongside comprehensive training programmes designed to help every employee reach their full potential. The company fosters an inclusive culture where teamwork is celebrated; everyone's voice matters regardless of seniority or background. Employees benefit from being part of a dependable network where knowledge-sharing is encouraged daily. The leadership style here is supportive rather than directive-ensuring that staff feel empowered rather than pressured. With clear pathways for progression plus access to business-wide projects that broaden horizons beyond traditional finance roles, this is an ideal place for those who want more than just another job: it's somewhere you can genuinely grow both personally and professionally while making meaningful contributions every day.
