We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to help us maximize our investment in housing and ensure the best value for money across our operation. The Role: You will play a key role in shaping sustainable housing solutions, ensuring that costs are effectively managed while maintaining high-quality standards. From repairs, compliance, investment works and refurbishments, your work will directly impact our customers in their homes. You will collaborate with stakeholders, playing a crucial role in shaping the quality and sustainability of our homes. You will be at the heart of project delivery, ensuring financial efficiency and cost control maximising the effectiveness of the commercial function across the Investment, repairs and planned works. Your remit will be to challenge the in house DLO (Direct Labour Organisation) to deliver a value for money repairs service and challenge/oversee sub-contractor management across the directorate. With a focus on reviewing the work carried out by the DLO and subcontractors, ensuring that internal and external clients are being charged appropriately for the work. Providing professional quantity surveying principles and methodologies to facilitate valuation, cost planning and cost control of planned preventative maintenance, responsive repairs, voids and refurbishment programmes. Pricing works for both internal and external clients via bespoke rates and the latest NATFED Schedule. Collaborate with the team to lower costs by identifying cost drivers. Foster a lesson-learned culture and cooperate to enhance services. Improve commercial control, delivery, and oversight of all legislative compliance work. Identify risks and work with the team to mitigate and provide advice and support on all aspects of contracting and sub-contracting. To be successful in this role you should have: Ideally, you’ll have a degree in Quantity Surveying or Professional Associate qualification RICS/CIOB or equivalent is desirable Preferably with experience within social housing, affordable housing, or residential projects Strong analytical skills Knowledge of procurement frameworks and contract management Passion for making a difference in communities Strong commercial awareness Proven ability to challenge ways of working Provide business acumen and ability to understand cost drivers Skilled negotiator Competent IT / systems user Ability to drive with a clean driving licence and access to a roadworthy car. Whilst this is not currently a permanent role, in a business our size and with the transformation we are going through, there is a possibility that this could either be extended, made permanent or other opportunities may arise.
