The team…

The Built and Natural Environment Team is a multi-disciplinary team packed with professional officers providing advice on Transport, Urban Design, Ecology, Trees, Drainage, Heritage and Contaminated Land

About the role….

The Council is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced person, specialising in Sustainable Urban Drainage (SuDS), to join its multi-disciplinary Built and Natural Environment Team.

In the role you will provide expert advice and technical support to a wide range of Council services. Fundamentally you will be providing comments and advice on proposed new developments.

You will act as a strong advocate for SuDS both within the Council and when dealing with external partners, applicants and the public.

You must be educated to degree level in either Environmental Management, Geography, Engineering, Hydrology or other relevant discipline or alternatively hold incorporated engineer status. You will be technically competent in your knowledge of SuDS, hydrology, hydraulics and geomorphology relevant to drainage and flood risk

An understanding of statutory duties, SuDS in new developments, responsibilities and powers in relation to SuDS flood risk management, surface water management and adoption procedures is essential.

An understanding of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) will be considered. A full UK driving licence is required for this role.

You will also be required to have relevant experience using or interpreting outputs from drainage software packages such as MircoDrainage and Causeway Flow.

An understanding and use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) as well as providing technical advice in relation to surface water and sustainable drainage on development proposals.

Knowledge of statutory duties, responsibilities and powers in relation to SuDS flood risk management, surface water management and adoption procedures, as well as working in a flood risk management, landscape, highway or civil engineering environment is also essential.
