About the Role
We are seeking a practical, enthusiastic and well-organised Design & Technology Technician to support our thriving DT department, covering Textiles, Home Economics and Woodwork. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic secondary school in the PR3 area, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning through effective preparation, maintenance and technical support.

Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and maintain equipment, tools and materials across Textiles, Food Technology and Resistant Materials (woodwork).
* Set up practical lessons and support classroom activities as directed by teaching staff.
* Ensure all machinery, tools and workspaces meet health and safety requirements.
* Maintain stock levels and support ordering of supplies.
* Assist in creating engaging displays and managing storage systems within the DT department.
* Provide technical guidance to students during practical tasks where appropriate.
* Support general department administration when needed.

Person Specification
Essential:
* Experience working with DT equipment, particularly in at least one of the following: textiles, food technology or woodwork.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Practical, hands-on mindset and willingness to learn skills across multiple DT disciplines.
* Knowledge of, or willingness to undertake training in, health and safety procedures (e.g., COSHH, machine safety).
* Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
Desirable:
* Previous experience in a school environment.
* Relevant technical qualification(s) in DT-related fields.
* Familiarity with workshop machinery and textiles equipment (e.g., sewing machines, overlockers, saws, sanding machines).
