Overview
We are seeking a Buyer/Estimator Assistant to support our estimating team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing their skills within procurement, cost control, and project estimation. Duties
* Assist in sourcing suppliers and obtaining quotes for materials and services required for projects
* Support the preparation of accurate cost estimates by gathering relevant data and analysing pricing information
* Maintain organised records of purchase orders, supplier contacts, and pricing details
* Monitor supplier performance and assist in negotiating favourable terms where appropriate
* Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely delivery of materials and minimise delays
* Contribute to cost control initiatives by analysing expenses and identifying areas for potential savings
* Update and maintain databases related to procurement activities and project estimates
* Support the team in preparing reports and documentation related to purchasing and estimating activities
Experience
* Previous experience in electrical contracting background, strong interest in procurement, estimating, or cost control is desirable
* Familiarity with basic financial principles related to cost management is advantageous
* Excellent organisational skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise effectively with suppliers and internal teams
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is preferred
