As Deputy Manager at Matthews Neuro-Rehabilitation Specialist Unit, you will support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day leadership, clinical oversight and operational management of the service.
Your role will have a direct impact on care quality, staff supervision, service user outcomes, regulatory compliance and the overall running of the unit.

About Matthews Neuro-Rehabilitation Specialist Unit
Matthews Neuro-Rehabilitation Specialist Unit is a 38-bedded unit based at Epinal Way Care Centre in Loughborough. The service provides a multi-disciplinary approach for individuals with acquired and traumatic brain injury, progressive neurological conditions, spinal cord injuries and palliative care needs.
The service provides a range of care pathways, including active rehabilitation, slow stream rehabilitation, maintenance, transitional living and outpatient services. Matthews is part of Rushcliffe Care Group and is currently shown on the Rushcliffe Care website as having a CQC overall rating of Good.
About the Role
As Deputy Manager, your primary responsibility will be to support the Registered Manager with the effective leadership and management of the unit. You will help ensure that high standards of care are maintained, staff are supported and supervised, and service users receive person-centred care that reflects their individual needs, goals and risks.
This is a hands-on clinical leadership role. You will be expected to provide visible support across the unit, maintain strong clinical standards, guide staff practice, and contribute to the safe and effective running of the service.
You will work closely with the Registered Manager, nursing staff, care staff, the wider multi-disciplinary team and support departments to ensure the service operates in line with Rushcliffe Care Group’s policies, values and regulatory expectations.
Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day management of the unit.
2. Providing leadership, support and supervision to staff across the service.
3. Ensuring staff are organised, supported and prepared to carry out their duties effectively.
4. Supporting staff to demonstrate Rushcliffe Care Group’s values in daily practice.
5. Helping to maintain a safe, structured and respectful environment for service users.
6. Supporting staff appraisals, supervision and clinical objectives.
7. Identifying training needs within the staff team and liaising with the training department.
8. Ensuring company policies and procedures are followed at all times.
9. Providing immediate management and clinical supervision of staff during each span of duty.
10. Participating in recruitment activity alongside the Registered Manager and HR.
11. Planning, implementing and evaluating appropriate nursing interventions for service users.
12. Monitoring care delivery and service provision.
13. Participating in clinical team meetings and multi-disciplinary meetings.
14. Supporting the implementation of person-centred care plans and risk assessments.
15. Maintaining high standards of clinical nursing practice.
16. Supporting staff competence, clinical development and safe practice.
17. Participating in the on-call rota where required.
The role is based on the Deputy Manager Nursing job description, which confirms responsibility for supporting the Registered Manager with overall unit management, staff leadership, person-centred care planning and clinical supervision.

What You’ll Need
30. Qualified RGN status.
31. A minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience.
32. Experience supporting or supervising staff within a clinical care environment.
33. Strong clinical knowledge and confidence in care planning, risk assessment and nursing interventions.
34. A clear understanding of CQC requirements and safe care standards.
35. Good communication, leadership and organisational skills.
36. The ability to work flexibly according to the needs of the service and service users.
37. A commitment to person-centred care, professional standards and positive team working.
Desirable:
38. Experience within neuro-rehabilitation or complex nursing care.
39. Experience working as a senior nurse, clinical lead or deputy manager.
40. Experience supporting staff appraisals, clinical supervision or competency assessments.
41. Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
