We have a fully equipped facility which allows us to design and manufacture our range of products in-house. Our highly skilled staff cover a range of disciplines including design, project management, sales, procurement, machining, welding, milling, assembly and paint. \n\nWorking as a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice at APH, you would be working to gain experience in manufacturing components on our machines, and also assembling and testing hydraulic cylinders. Eventually, you will have the opportunity to be machining components to our technical drawings and specifications, and assembling the components together to become a custom-made hydraulic cylinder or rotary actuator.\n\n APH have a varied mix of machines and processes, so you would have the opportunity to work on both manual and CNC lathes and mills, and also within our assembly bay, where you would assemble and test hydraulic cylinders and actuators. \n\nWe also have welding processes within our facility, which there may be opportunities to diversify into for the right candidate.\n\nTypical skills you would learn are:\n\nâ¢\tMeasuring.\nâ¢\tHand Skills.\nâ¢\tManual turning & milling.\nâ¢\tProgramming and operating CNC lathes and mills.\nâ¢\tAssembly and fitting skills.\nâ¢\tWorking with hydraulics.\nâ¢\tTesting and investigating skills.\nâ¢\tCommunication with others\nâ¢\tCo-operation within multi-disciplined teams\nâ¢\tProblem solving\nâ¢\tInterpreting technical drawings\nâ¢\tSoldering\n Successful applicants will hold a minimum of four National 5âs in English, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry and an Engineering Technical based subject i.e. Craft and Design, Graphic Communications or a foundation apprenticeship etc. You must hold strong communication skills and an ability to approach tasks in a logical manner. You must have the ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate enthusiasm and a commitment to pursuing a career within the engineering industry. You will be self-motivated, driven and willing to learn. You will also be required to use your initiative and have a flexible approach to learning. As part of the recruitment process you will require to complete an on-line and practical aptitude test.
