An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Structures Engineering team. You will work with a variety of partners, customers, and clients on the delivery of a professional service that maximises resources and delivers positive outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Manage the Council's road structure assets such as bridges and retaining walls.
* Assist the Team Leader in managing the inspection and assessment regime.
* Carry out Technical Approval of new structures on public roads.
* Manage Abnormal Indivisible Load movements.
* Develop, prioritise and deliver a program of capital and revenue works to ensure a safe and well-maintained road structures stock.
Qualifications
* Registration with the Engineering Council at Chartered Engineer level, with substantial knowledge and experience in a relevant field.
* Proven track record of delivering projects and service priorities, including ability to achieve project milestones and targets.
* Proven experience of developing successful working relationships with contractors and professional service providers and in NEC contract management.
* Ideally, demonstrable experience in asset management and budgetary experience including preparation, monitoring and control arrangements.
* Experience of managing a team is desirable but not essential.
* Business and customer-focused with a demonstrable record of identifying opportunities, achieving outcomes, managing change, and exercising strong leadership skills.
* Self-motivated with a flexible and collaborative approach, able to cope with multiple changing demands while meeting tight deadlines.
* Sound understanding and knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation, codes of practice and initiatives.
* Excellent organisational and IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and AutoCAD; able to analyse information and produce reports.
Additional Requirements
* Hybrid working: the team currently operates a mix of homeworking and office-based work within West Lothian.
* Willingness to travel throughout West Lothian; a full driving licence is essential.
Working Pattern
Monday - Thursday: 08:30am – 16:30pm; Friday: 08:30am – 16:00pm.
