Liaisewithindividualteammembersandotherdepartmentsasrequired,inamanner that will contributetotheeffectiveandefficientrunningoftheward.
Work within our busy oncology unit to ensure that notes are created and ready for elective patients and inpatients & ensure that the diary is up to date. You maybe required to call and liaise with patients.
To arrange for the repair of faulty ward equipment. Todeliverposttopatients. Answer the telephone and deal with enquiries in a courteous manner.
Toopenandsortincomingmailanddistribute torelevantpersonnelforaction.
Touse the computerforinputtingandaccessinggeneralpatientinformationonTrustcomputersystemssuchasEcamis,EPR andHealthoftheWard.
Toassist withotherdutiesthat mayreasonablyberequired. Toensuresufficientstockofpaperworkandstationarysupplies. Organiseownworkloadtoensurethattheprioritiesof the serviceneedare met.
Liaise with agencies external to the ward e.g. other hospital departments, organising various models oftransport,GPSurgeriesetc.
Communicateappropriatelywithallvisitorstothewardareae.g.relatives,medicalandnursingagencies etc.
Communicateappropriatelywithconfusedand/oraggressiveorwanderingpatients.
Contactbytelephonepatientsandrelativesrelatingtotheirimminentadmissionordischargefromtheward.
Toreporttothe SeniorNurse anycomplaints,commentorrequestbypatientsorvisitors.
