Deputy Librarian – Quality Assurance Lead
Deputy Librarian - Quality Assurance Lead plays a pivotal role in the strategic development and operational management of the multidisciplinary library and information services across Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). Working closely with the Head of Library Services, the post holder ensures the service meets national standards set by Health Education England's Quality Impact Outcomes Framework (QIOF). This includes conducting self‑assessments, producing action plans, and aligning services with the Knowledge for Healthcare strategy. The role also involves representing the library at senior meetings, managing budgets, and overseeing staff, including assistant librarians and library assistants.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the self‑assessment of library services against Health Education England's Quality Impact Outcomes Framework (QIOF).
* Collaborate with the Head of Library Services to develop and implement action plans that enhance service quality in line with national standards.
* Produce strategic and operational plans aligned with the Knowledge for Healthcare strategy, responding to local, regional, and national needs.
* Collect and evaluate management data to monitor service quality and effectiveness.
* Ensure cost‑effective use of e‑resources and maintain policies and procedures that support quality service delivery.
* Promote the library service actively across the Trust and partner organisations to ensure visibility and engagement.
* Deputise for the Head of Library Services at Medical Director Senior Team meetings, representing library interests at a strategic level.
* Support leadership and operational management of library services within the Trust's Medical Directors operational business plan.
* Manage library staff, including assistant librarians and library assistants, overseeing recruitment, appraisal, training, and development.
* Take responsibility for budget forecasting and operational management, ensuring financial sustainability.
* Maintain collaborative networks and participate in regional and national library groups to support service delivery and innovation.
