Commercial Counsel (Contract)
Location: Remote (United Kingdom)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Duration: 3 months (May 18, 2026 – August 18, 2026)
Compensation: $80–$90/hour (USD equivalent)
Overview
A high-growth design and SaaS technology company is seeking an experienced Commercial Counsel to support its EMEA commercial legal team on an interim basis.
This is a full-time contract role providing short-term coverage, focused on managing a high volume of strategic enterprise customer agreements. The successful candidate will operate independently while partnering closely with Sales, Finance, and Deal Desk teams to drive deal execution.
Key Responsibilities
* Review, draft, and negotiate enterprise commercial agreements with strategic customers across the EMEA region
* Manage a high volume of deal activity independently and efficiently
* Negotiate data privacy terms, including DPAs and SCCs, as well as AI-related contractual provisions
* Partner with Sales, Finance, and Deal Desk teams to support deal strategy and execution
* Provide practical, business-oriented legal guidance to facilitate deal closure
* Identify and escalate legal risks while maintaining deal momentum
Qualifications
* 7+ years of in-house commercial legal experience, ideally within a SaaS or high-growth technology company
* Proven ability to manage high-volume contracting workflows with minimal supervision
* Strong experience negotiating data privacy and AI-related contractual terms
* Qualified solicitor or equivalent legal qualification in a UK or EMEA jurisdiction
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to work cross-functionally with commercial and executive teams
* Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
