Our client is seeking a highly experienced HGV Workshop Controller to oversee their busy workshop in Reading.
This position requires a professional with proven leadership within a commercial vehicle environment, committed to delivering high standards of service, safety, and operational efficiency. The successful HGV Workshop Controller will play a pivotal part in managing workshop operations, motivating the team, and ensuring profitability.

Duties as a HGV Workshop Controller
* Lead and motivate the workshop team to meet productivity and quality standards
* Allocate work efficiently among technicians to optimise productivity and profitability
* Drive workshop revenue by maximising labour hours sold and promoting value‑added services
* Manage workshop resources, equipment calibration, and ensure compliance with safety regulations
* Maintain strong communication with parts, warranty, and service teams to ensure parts availability
* Oversee documentation accuracy and uphold warranty standards
* Promote a safe working environment, supporting audits and ISO standards
* Foster team development through coaching, training, and performance management
* Support customer service by liaising directly with clients when necessary
Requirements
* Proven experience as an HGV Workshop Controller or in a similar supervisory role within a commercial vehicle workshop
* Strong leadership and organisational skills, with previous managerial experience preferred
* Excellent problem‑solving and communication abilities
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to heavy vehicle workshops
* Familiarity with HGV systems, processes, and industry best practices
* Flexible, proactive, and capable of handling multiple priorities
* Ability to work effectively with a team and foster positive working relationships
