ACES is an independent provider of NHS eye care outpatient and surgical services that are delivered in the community. Working with state of the art technologies, we support the NHS, providing patients with the highest standards of clinical care. We provide a range of services including: Cataract, YAG Laser Treatment, Glaucoma, Oculoplastics and General Ophthalmology.
We are seeking a skilled and patient-focused Clinic Doctor with experience in ophthalmology to join our clinical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing a range of ocular conditions, with a particular emphasis on post-cataract care and the ability to perform YAG laser capsulotomy procedures safely and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient consultations, including medical history and ocular examination
- Diagnose and manage common and complex eye conditions
- Perform and interpret visual acuity tests, slit-lamp examinations, and intraocular pressure measurements
- Independently perform YAG laser capsulotomy procedures in accordance with clinical protocols
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for ophthalmic patients
- Identify and refer patients requiring specialist or surgical intervention beyond scope
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in line with regulatory standards
- Ensure adherence to infection control, clinical governance, and safety procedures
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care
- Participate in audits, clinical reviews, and continuous professional development
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
- Full GMC registration
- Proven experience in ophthalmology practice
- Demonstrable competence in performing YAG capsulotomy procedures
- Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable Skills
- Experience working in outpatient ophthalmology clinics or private practice
- Familiarity with additional ophthalmic laser procedures
- Certification or training in ophthalmology (e.g., diploma or postgraduate qualification)
- Experience with electronic medical records systems
