Job Description

Your main responsibility will be to develop and progress the Hazardous Waste (HW) regulatory reform associated with the Waste Tracking Service (WTS). This is an exciting role that will make a real difference!
The Hazardous Waste Regulatory Reform Project Lead will play a pivotal role in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, implementing reforms, and driving the project to successful completion. Your expertise will significantly contribute to the effective implementation of these reforms.
You will:
* Coordinate and collate input from EA HW teams regarding regulatory and policy requirements of the regime.
* Provide technical input to the EA Waste Tracking team.
* Advise the Defra digital team on the development and design of the Waste Tracking Service, ensuring it meets business needs.
* Provide technical insight and feedback into Defra policy discussions to ensure the Hazardous Waste Regime's requirements are incorporated into the Waste Tracking Service.
* Engage with devolved nations regarding Waste Tracking Service requirements.
In addition, you will:
* Lead on future Hazardous Waste charging proposals and consultations, advising on technical aspects and their links to waste tracking.
* Support wider regulatory reform related to the Hazardous Waste Regulations.
* Support and contribute to the wider Hazardous Waste team’s activities.
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing group within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead on hazardous waste management, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper handling of hazardous waste.

The role is based in our EA Office, with flexible/hybrid working arrangements. Some travel and overnight stays may be required.
