Job Title: Teacher of Science

Location: The Milton Keynes Academy

Salary: Main Scale/ Upper Pay Range

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Monday – Friday 8:25am – 15:25pm

About You:

The Milton Keynes Academy are seeking an inspiring and dedicated Science teacher who believes in the transformational power of excellent teaching. You are passionate about delivering high quality lessons that spark curiosity, deepen scientific understanding and enable every student to achieve their full potential. With a commitment to inclusion, you plan thoughtfully to meet the needs of all learners and use assessment effectively to guide progress. You take pride in maintaining high expectations, creating a positive learning environment and building strong, respectful relationships with students. A reflective practitioner, you welcome opportunities to collaborate, share best practice and contribute to ongoing department and whole academy improvement. You are motivated by helping young people grow academically, socially and personally—and you are ready to play an active role within a vibrant academy community.

Our Ideal candidate will have:

1. Have a strong commitment to high quality teaching and learning, delivering well planned, engaging lessons that ensure students make good or better progress.

2. Be able to use assessment for learning effectively so students understand their next steps and can respond meaningfully to feedback.

3. Work collaboratively with colleagues, including Inclusion Staff, to meet the needs of all learners and contribute to curriculum development and departmental improvement.

4. Maintain high expectations for behaviour, applying consistent routines and promoting a positive, respectful and safe learning environment.

5. Demonstrate strong organisational skills, with the ability to track, monitor and accurately record attendance, progress and attainment.

6. Contribute to the creation of effective schemes of learning, resources and marking policies to support high standards across the department.

7. Show a commitment to students’ wider development, including tutoring responsibilities, pastoral care and supporting their social, moral and personal growth.

8. Communicate effectively with parents, carers and external agencies, building strong partnerships that support student achievement.

9. Positively uphold the school’s ethos, values and community expectations, modelling respect, responsibility and aspiration.

10. Engage fully in professional development, performance management and school improvement initiatives.

11. Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all young people.

12. Actively contribute to the wider life of the school and be willing to undertake reasonable duties that align with the role.

13. Demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive practice, ensuring that all students, including those with SEND and EAL, can access and succeed in the curriculum.
