The team delivers a diverse portfolio of refurbishment, remediation, retrofit, and building safety projects, including residential, student accommodation, and wider public‑sector regeneration schemes. The division is led by an experienced senior leadership team with a proven track record of delivering complex, high‑value programmes.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key commercial role in the successful delivery of SHDF (Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund) retrofit works across in Hertfordshire. You’ll be responsible for managing project finances, ensuring commercial control, and supporting the delivery of energy‑efficiency upgrades to occupied social housing stock.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven QS who wants to work on meaningful, sustainability‑focused projects that directly improve homes, communities, and energy performance.
Key Responsibilities

Manage the commercial function on SHDF retrofit schemes, ensuring strong cost control and accurate forecasting
*
Prepare, submit, and negotiate valuations, variations, and final accounts
*
Work closely with operational teams to support project delivery and programme performance
*
Liaise with clients, supply chain partners, and internal stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships
*
Ensure compliance with contract terms, procurement processes, and commercial governance
*
Support procurement, subcontractor management, and cost reporting
*
Contribute to continuous improvement and best practice within the commercial team
About You
*
Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within refurbishment, retrofit, energy‑efficiency, or social housing projects
*
Knowledge of SHDF, PAS 2035, or similar retrofit frameworks is highly desirable
*
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage multiple workstreams
*
Confident communicator with excellent client‑facing skills
*
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
*
Degree‑qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
