About The Role

The Mechanical Inspector will be responsible for inspecting mechanical components and assemblies during manufacturing, ensuring quality standards, industry regulations, and company specifications through visual checks, measurements, and tests, and identifying defects to maintain product quality and safety.
This role is based at our Barnstaple site and requires onsite presence 5 days a week.
The salary is up to £30k, depending on experience.
What you'll do
* Conduct inspections: Perform detailed inspections of parts and assemblies using various tools to identify deviations from specifications, including dimensional checks, surface finish evaluation, and functionality testing.
* Quality control checks: Verify compliance with quality standards, drawings, and manufacturing procedures throughout production.
* Defect reporting: Document defects, raise NCRs, and collaborate with production to address issues.
* Data recording: Maintain inspection records, document results, and generate reports for review.
* Calibration and maintenance: Ensure tools are calibrated and perform routine checks.
* Collaboration: Work with operators, technicians, and engineers to identify and resolve quality issues.
* Root cause analysis: Assist in analyzing defects to prevent recurrence.
* Standards compliance: Keep up-to-date with industry standards and regulations.

The skills you need
* Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes
* Proficiency with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
* Knowledge of quality control practices
* Attention to detail and defect identification skills
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
* Relevant technical certifications in mechanical inspection
