Job Title: Management Accountant Location: Leeds (Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days remote) Salary: £50,000-£55,000 Reports To: Finance Manager Purpose of the Role To ensure the accurate, timely, and insightful accounting and reporting of operating expenditure. This role plays a key part in supporting the Finance Manager in controlling costs and delivering high-quality financial information to support business decision-making. Key Responsibilities Opex Accounting Ownership: Take responsibility for the accounting of specific P&L lines and assist with others to ensure completeness and accuracy of reported operating expenditure. Intercompany Transactions: Accurately record and reconcile intercompany transactions, leveraging an understanding of the company's operational structure. Cost Analysis & Reporting: Review operating costs against budgets and KPIs, providing clear and timely variance analysis and identifying trends or areas requiring attention. Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve discrepancies or queries related to expenditure in collaboration with the wider finance team. System Use & Data Integrity: Use financial systems (e.g., SAGE, Workday) to ensure accuracy and consistency of data across reporting outputs. Balance Sheet Management: Ensure accruals and prepayments are correctly accounted for and reflected accurately on the balance sheet. Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with operational teams to promote a 'right-first-time' approach in the use of purchase orders and invoice processing. Monthly Reporting: Prepare and present monthly operating expenditure results to the Finance Manager and Financial Controller, including key insights and analysis. Budgeting & Audit Support: Assist in the preparation of the annual operating expenditure budget and support the external audit process. ERP Implementation Support: Contribute to the successful implementation and embedding of a new ERP system within the finance function. Skills and Experience Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial systems such as SAGE and/or Workday Core Competencies: Proactive, analytical, and detail-oriented Strong collaboration and communication skills Ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders Organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively Industry Experience: Previous experience in an industry or commercial finance environment is preferred.
