The Portfolio Unit (PU) of the Ocean Division at Alfa Laval will focus on driving growth, fostering innovation, and building strategic partnerships to enable new business models. It will also take full responsibility for Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) activities, seeking opportunities targeting new technologies and product areas. The PU will also oversee activities for business development and integration.
About the Job
The Portfolio Unit Business Controller is a senior executive responsible for overall finance responsibility for the Portfolio Unit. Driving strategy, business performance follows up and improvements. Besides the financial aspects, risk and compliance management as well as legal support will be hosted within the area of responsibility.
The Business Controller will advise the Portfolio Unit President and its team members in business control from a global perspective, assess the financial impact of decision and business directions.
The position will report to Portfolio Unit President as the direct manager.
Your key responsibilities include:
1. Evaluate financial implications of various strategic decisions, build scenarios, and recommend actions.
2. Promote initiatives to achieve growth and cost savings as well as strengthen responsiveness to customers and business accountability within the PU.
3. Ensure accuracy of financial information used in the Portfolio Unit to support the improvement of both commercial and operational related processes by using Alfa Laval's standard report enhanced with specialized reports and the use of latest technologies for analytics and reporting.
4. Drive improvement of cash flow, operating working capital, financial analysis, planning and reporting processes in the Portfolio Unit.
5. Provide analysis support to assess business risk exposure and provide input to define risk mitigation strategies to reduce impact on business performance.
6. Identify and manage potential risks relating to contract agreements.
7. Being a business partner working with other functions in the organization to drive business improvements and change.
8. Support the financial team and lead the function in the PU to foster a culture of excellence and continue improvement.
9. Part of both tactical and strategic decisions in the management team.

You are experienced in business and finance/ business control, especially in an engineering and manufacturing industry environment. You have a holistic understanding of the business landscape and like to identify the deeper industry, and customers’ needs to understand the business drivers and develop the impactful opportunities from a business control angle. The position needs to be located in Europe, with preference on the main sites of the Portfolio Unit. The position requires frequent travel.
