About The Role

As a result, alongside several consortium partners; Balfour Beatty have been selected by bp (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster. Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic and experienced Section Engineer to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside project based at our new site in Redcar and Cleveland.
What you'll be doing
Engineering Control
* Carry out complex setting out;
* Provision of ‘primary’ setting out control and recognizes the optimum location for installation;
* Coaching in the use of setting out techniques;
* Is able to carry out calibration checks on equipment.
Quality
* Produces Activity Control Plans;
* Actively uses the Specification as a reference document;
* Maintains a comprehensive filing system of quality records;
* Identifies, raises and actions Non Conformance Reports;
* Identifies and raises Technical Queries with possible solutions.
Health Safety & Environmental
* Produces Method Statements and Risk Assessments;
* Prepares and raises Temporary Works Briefs;
* Carries out ‘short term’, Visitors Induction;
* Completes Accident Book and associated reports as required;
* Actively participates in Safety Drives on the scheme;
* Understands and uses the Observation tool for both areas of improvement and areas of excellence.
Productivity
* Assists in the production of a weekly programme and measures progress against KPI’s;
* Communicates weekly programme and targets to the workforce;
* Creates and maintains daily diary for upload to BIM 360;
* Drives output in a safe manner and identifies waste streams to ensure optimum performance.
Commercial
* Collates Weekly Measure information and monitors wastage against budget allowances / KPI’s;
* Carries out a labour and plant reconciliation;
* Identifies items of additional work and raises the necessary notifications;
* Works to specific terms, conditions and outputs of relevant subcontractors and suppliers.
Who we're looking for
The Following Experience/qualifications Are Required
* Ability to carry out complex setting out;
* Understands and has experience of producing ACP;
* Understanding of construction tolerances;
* Awareness of Specification and other contract documents;
* Understanding of permit system and actively raises permits to work;
* Able to identify potential hazards and is proactive in implementing actions and controls;
* Understands and can use the information provided in the 3-week stage programme;
* Good understanding of key contract documentation;
* Understands specific terms, conditions and outputs of relevant subcontractors and suppliers.
