Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and other SEND.
Assist class teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated learning activities.
Promote positive behaviour through consistent routines, calm communication, and de-escalation strategies.
Support students' emotional regulation using a trauma-informed approach.
Encourage pupil participation and foster a safe, supportive classroom environment.
Supervise pupils during break and lunch times, promoting positive social interaction.
Assist with behaviour plans, daily reports, and safeguarding documentation as required.Must-Have Skills & Qualities:
Experience supporting children or young people in an educational or care setting.
An understanding of trauma-informed practice and how it shapes behaviour and learning.
Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting pupils with complex needs.
Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instruction while using initiative.
A proactive and supportive approach to teamwork and inclusion.Good to Have:
Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
Experience working with pupils with SEMH, autism, or behavioural challenges.
Familiarity with behaviour management plans and safeguarding procedures.Nice to Have:
Training in Team Teach, MAPA, or another positive handling strategy.
Knowledge of Zones of Regulation, Thrive Approach, or other emotional wellbeing frameworks.
First Aid or Mental Health First Aid training.
Experience supporting literacy, numeracy, or creative interventions (e.g., art, drama, sport).
