About the Role Our System Rig Design team is at the forefront of developing, optimising, and automating system rig designs for advanced automotive testing. We integrate complex prototype systems into physical test environments to push the limits of innovation and performance. As a Systems Rig Design Engineer, you’ll take ownership of designing and releasing system rig solutions for both off-rig and on-rig commissioning. Your work will directly influence the efficiency, safety, and reliability of our Powertrain Test Operations — ensuring that every project is delivered right first time and in line with technical standards. Systems Rig Design Engineer Location: Warwick Hours: Day shifts - 40 hours per week Contract Type: Contract Salary/Rate: £30.00 per hour (Inside IR35) Monday - Friday Key Responsibilities * Design & Delivery: Produce robust system rig designs including architecture, wiring, and cooling schematics — meeting project timelines and engineering standards. * Documentation: Maintain audit-ready documentation and drive process improvements through lessons learned. * Project Management: Apply Agile delivery practices — sprint planning, risk management, and KPI tracking — to ensure timely, budget-conscious execution. * Team Leadership: Mentor junior engineers, promote Scrum values, and provide regular training and performance feedback. * Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to align requirements, maintain clear communication, and manage workflows in JIRA. What You’ll Need Essential Skills & Experience * Proven experience in system rig design, development, or integration. * Strong background in automotive powertrain systems and related interfaces. * Experience with system engineering tools and simulation software (e.g., MSOSA, SysML Tools). * Demonstrated capability in automotive wiring harness design and high-voltage breakout box design. * Proven track record in integrating complex systems into test environments. * Understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban. * Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent relevant experience). Desirable * Experience within a prototype or automotive test facility. * Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset. * Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
