Contract: Fixed Term - 12 months

Hours of work: 36 hours per week

An excellent offer…

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

This is an exciting opportunity within Homelessness Services, part of the Housing Needs & Support department, to join the newly established Private Rented Sector Sustainment and Compliance Team. The team has been created to support the implementation of the Renters’ Rights Act 2025, strengthening our approach to homelessness prevention within the private rented sector.

You will manage a caseload of residents at risk of homelessness, working proactively to sustain tenancies, prevent eviction and support landlord compliance. This includes early intervention in tenancy breakdown, providing practical support and advice to tenants and landlords, and identifying and referring cases where there may be breaches of housing legislation to the appropriate teams.

You will work closely with internal team such as Private Housing Services, legal representatives and external partners to deliver effective prevention outcomes, reduce the need for temporary accommodation and support residents to maintain stable housing.

The Person

We are seeking a motivated and proactive individual with strong knowledge of homelessness and the private rented sector, and an understanding of the changes introduced through the Renters’ Rights Act 2025. The ideal candidate will have experience of working within a housing or homelessness service, managing a caseload and supporting residents at risk of homelessness to achieve positive outcomes.

You will be confident in managing complex and sensitive situations, working constructively with tenants and landlords to sustain tenancies and prevent eviction. You will have experience of providing clear and accurate housing advice, understanding legal processes and using professional judgement to identify appropriate interventions.

Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and build effective relationships with internal services and external partners. You will be resilient, adaptable and committed to delivering high-quality, resident-focused services in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Why join us?

We know people achieve their best when they feed valued. At Brent, you’ll benefit from:

* Up to 33 days annual leave (depending on length of service) plus bank holidays
* Excellent pension with generous employer contributions (LGPS)
* Hybrid and flexible working options available for most roles
* Supportive family-friendly policies for parent, guardians, and carers

Closing date: Sunday 12 April 2026 (23:59)
