Project Director – Grid Connections (Remote with Travel)
Location: Remote (with occasional travel to sites across the UK, client offices and head office in Newcastle-under-Lyme)

About the Company

Our client is a specialist contractor with a strong reputation in grid connection projects, covering wind, battery storage, solar and private networks. Established four years ago, they are now entering an exciting phase of growth, with multiple National Grid and DNO-connected schemes in the pipeline.

With a new head office based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, the business is well positioned to expand and is now seeking a Project Director to join the leadership team. This role will be instrumental in shaping the direction of the organisation and supporting the delivery of high-profile projects.

The Role

The Project Director will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of major grid connection projects, ensuring quality, safety and commercial objectives are achieved. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will provide strategic leadership while maintaining a hands-on approach where required.

This is a remote position, with flexibility to work from home, but will involve occasional visits to project sites, client offices, and to the company’s head office in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Key responsibilities include:

*

Leading the delivery of grid connection projects (up to 400kV).

*

Providing strategic direction across project teams to ensure timely and cost-effective outcomes.

*

Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, DNOs, National Grid and supply chain partners.

*

Supporting the growth of the business by contributing to bids, frameworks and operational strategy.

*

Mentoring and developing project managers and site teams to ensure high standards of performance.

About You

We are keen to hear from candidates with a strong background in transmission and distribution who are ready to step into a director-level position. This may suit an experienced Senior Project Manager or Programme Manager seeking the next step in their career.

Essential skills and experience:

*

Proven track record of delivering transmission or distribution projects, ideally up to 400kV.

*

Strong leadership ability, with experience managing project teams and subcontractors.

*

Commercially astute with excellent client-facing skills.

*

Ability to influence at both operational and strategic levels.

*

Flexible approach to travel, with the majority of the role being remote.
