General Manager (Hospitals)
We have an exciting opportunity for a General Manager to join our 29-bedded learning disability inpatient service. Working closely with the Hospital Director/Registered Manager and Clinical Lead, you will play a key role in shaping a high-performing hospital environment—supporting safe, effective care and helping drive continuous improvement as part of a forward-thinking Senior Management Team (SMT).
About the role
4. Provide visible, values-led leadership across non-clinical and support services, ensuring a safe, welcoming and well-managed hospital environment.
5. Work in partnership with the Hospital Director/Registered Manager and Clinical Lead to support governance, quality, audit activity and regulatory compliance.
6. Support effective people management practices including recruitment, induction, training compliance, employee engagement and performance management (with HR support as required).
7. Oversee key support functions including administration, housekeeping, catering, maintenance and transport, ensuring services are efficient, responsive and patient-focused.
8. Ensure effective communication systems across the hospital and with Head Office, supporting clear reporting and delivery against agreed targets and KPIs.
9. Contribute to service development and the delivery of action plans, supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
What we’re looking for
10. Proven leadership/management experience in a hospital, healthcare, social care, or similarly regulated environment.
11. Strong working knowledge of governance, audit and compliance, with the ability to support performance against KPIs.
12. Confidence leading and coordinating multiple support functions and operational priorities.
13. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
14. Commitment to values-based leadership, promoting dignity, respect, confidentiality and patient rights.
15. Desirable: Experience within learning disability services and/or working alongside multidisciplinary clinical teams.
