About the Role
We are seeking an experienced
Category Manager
to take ownership of our
commercial lighting
portfolio. This is a key role in shaping and growing
Lyco
's commercial (B2B) lighting offering within an established e-commerce retailer primarily focused on decorative (B2C) lighting.
You will be responsible for defining, optimising and expanding our product range, working closely with our parent company (a leading commercial lighting supplier across Europe) to ensure the right products for the UK market. You will combine market insight, customer needs and regulatory requirements to curate a competitive, profitable assortment – with a focus on increasing own-brand share.
Key Responsibilities
* Product Portfolio Management:
Optimise and manage the commercial lighting range, ensuring relevance to UK market trends, regulations and customer needs.
* Supplier Collaboration:
Work closely with our Spanish parent company, manufacturers, and local suppliers to source and develop products, including new product specifications and introductions.
* Pricing & Profitability:
Own pricing strategy and margin management for the commercial lighting category.
* Market & Competitor Analysis:
Monitor competitor ranges, pricing and trends to ensure a market-leading assortment.
* Category Performance:
Analyse sales, profitability and customer data to identify opportunities and gaps; taking action to maximise growth.
* Range Development:
Drive increased own-brand penetration and rationalise 3rd party product lines where appropriate.
* Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with marketing, logistics and sales teams to launch and promote products effectively.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in
commercial lighting
(essential) with knowledge of UK regulations and trends.
* Background in
product management, category management, or merchandising
(ideally in e-commerce or distribution).
* Strong
analytical skills
with experience in pricing, margin management and range performance analysis.
* Excellent
commercial acumen
and supplier negotiation skills.
* Strong
communication
and stakeholder management abilities.
* Comfortable working in a
fast-paced, data-driven
environment.
