An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed social work practitioner to join the Safeguarding Adults Team in Westmorland & Furness.
The Safeguarding Adults Team within Adult Social Care undertakes responsibility for safeguarding decision-making through the Single Point of Access, coordinating enquiry work and case conferences, as well as providing advice, guidance, and support to the existing operational teams across adult services, mental health, and learning disabilities.
We have recently introduced a career grade for social workers from Grade 11 to Grade 13, for those who hold a Best Interests assessor, Practice Educator, or AMHP qualification. Regular training is held to enable career progression within Westmorland and Furness.
The post is based in Penrith, with the potential requirement to travel to other areas of Westmorland & Furness as demand requires. The Social Work role is pivotal within a supportive and dynamic team, providing statutory operational functions to safeguarding operations: managing a caseload of safeguarding enquiries and leading on these enquiries to ensure individuals are protected from harm, abuse, and neglect. The role also involves acting as a point of contact for advice to wider teams and developing positive partner relationships with external agencies including police, health services, and the third sector.
Who we are looking for…
Candidates should demonstrate a passion for making safeguarding personal through a strengths-based approach. They should have experience working within the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005, an understanding of safeguarding principles, and familiarity with Cumbria Safeguarding Adults Board policies and procedures, applying them in practice to keep people safe, support adults in achieving their outcomes, and live free from abuse and neglect.
What our team says
"It's a very supportive team with great management: where you feel both part of a well-connected team and are recognized as an individual for your practice and qualities" – L, Safeguarding Social Worker.
