The Quality Engineer Graduate will be taking quality methodologies to production and the supply chain. The QE will be continuously improving, optimising and troubleshooting existing manufacturing processes within the required lead-time and cost constraints.
The role reports to the FN UK Quality Director.
Duties will include, but not limited to:
New Product Development:
* Support the validation of manufacturing processes working alongside the Engineering team.
* Support the development, planning and execution of product introduction projects, creating prototype and test sets up whilst ensuring the manufacturing processes meet quality, cost and production targets.
* Assist Suppliers in the development of new product.
* Conduct PPAP and FAI validation.
* Apply DFA principles to optimise part interactions and assembly processes.
* Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to product specifications, production processes, and quality control procedures.
* Create CMM programs for inspection of new and existing components.
* Perform measurement work to support manufacturing or quality using metrology equipment and provide detailed reports.
* Assist the coordination of DFMEAs, PFMEAs, Process Flow, Process Capability Studies.
Quality Assurance:
* Facilitate Measurement System Analysis studies.
* Perform statistical studies to support all new product introduction activities.
* Perform root cause analysis and initiate and follow up when investigations such as A3 reports are required.
* Support operational demands in relation to daily Quality, Cost and Delivery challenges.
* Develop and maintain documentation for process control procedures, quality specifications, and inspection checklists to ensure adherence to quality standards.
* Generate final reports, compile historical data packages, perform statistical evaluations, and route documents for approval.
Process Improvement:
* Lead Technical Change Requests.
* Drive improvements in production processes through proven methodology and the involvement of stakeholders.
* Drive process improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
* Identify and address any bottlenecks or issues in the production process, driving continuous improvement initiatives
* Develop and implement quality control methodologies to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality
Essential Skills:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
* Excellent understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in drawings and CAD
* Ideal CMM programming experience on PCDMIS software
* Ideal knowledge of metrology
* Ideal experience performing First Article Inspections (FAIs), Process Capability analysis (Cp, Cpk), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
* Knowledge of CAD software such as CREO, Solidworks.
* Good communication skills;
* Strong computer literacy and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
