Job Purpose
You will support the detailed development of strategic category plans and the execution of category plans and sourcing strategies for major categories of spend across functional and organisation boundaries ensuring optimum value for money for United Utilities.
Provide a value added customer service to the Water and Wastewater businesses in the form of a trusted advisor to the senior business leaders.
Manage a team of commercial specialists and cross functional business personnel, to deliver projects and business requirements across the commercial function dependent on work load.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Influence specification, supply and sourcing, particularly in terms of value for money, commercial risk, operational risk, economies of scale, innovation and efficiency
* Drive performance of contracts and suppliers throughout the contract lifecycle by influencing stakeholders and embedding a culture of strong contract governance procedures
* Management of senior stakeholder relationships ensuring business strategy and policy is aligned to category plans
* Motivate and manage a category buying teams within the Commercial organisation
* Manage the conflicting interests of various business functions and service providers
Technical Skills & Experience
* Knowledge of techniques for implementing commercial agreements in a complex and rapidly changing environment
* The ability to influence at senior management levels to embrace and support the strategic agenda
* A understanding of continuous improvement techniques would be advantageous
* Experience of SRM and Contract Management
* Experience of implementing new commercial relationships cross functional and business boundaries and a quantifiable track record of savings delivery and change implementation
Qualifications
* Preferably degree educated, with a relevant qualification (e.g. CIPS,RICS, MBA, MSC)
About the Team
* The Better Rivers Commercial Team are fully embedded within the Better Rivers Programme to ensure alignment of the strategy and delivery of the Programme in an efficient and cost effective manner
* The Better Rivers Commercial Team are utilising the County Model to drive relationships and collaboration with both the UU delivery Team and the supply chain allocated to the Counties
* This role will report to the Lead Commercial Manager but the roleholder will be responsible for the Commercial activities within their County area
* Each County Commercial team consists of a Commercial Manager, SQS’s and QS’s with Central Support from an MQS who will ensure consistency of approach, processes, and compliance with NEC4
* The Commercial Manager will have line management responsibility for their Commercial Team, and be capable of development and mentorship of their team
