Job Description
Come join our team in Bedfordshire as a Senior Electronics Engineer, where you'll play a key role in delivering high-reliability, safety-critical electronic systems for one of ALTEN's major defence and aerospace programmes. You'll be part of a specialist engineering team working on complex, cutting-edge technology with real-world impact.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys technical ownership, detailed design work, and contributing to mission-critical programmes in a fast-paced environment.

* On Site: Bedford

* Experience Level: Mid - Senior
Key Responsibilities
* Lead electronic hardware development across the full lifecycle, from requirements capture through to production release
* Carry out detailed design work for digital, mixed-signal, application processor, FPGA-based, and high-reliability systems
* Review and approve schematics, PCB layouts, component selections, and supporting documentation
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers
* Maintain compliance with DO-254 processes and ensure robust design assurance and verification traceability
* Support configuration control, verification, and validation activities
* Work collaboratively with Systems, Software, Mechanical, Test, and Programme Management teams
* Contribute to planning, bid activity, cost estimation, and project reporting
* Manage priorities, risks, and dependencies across multiple concurrent projects
Qualifications
Required Skills
* Strong project and programme management experience
* 5+ years' experience in electronics hardware design (digital and mixed-signal)
* Proven experience designing to DO-254 standards
* Minimum 1 year of wiring and PCB rework experience
* Significant expertise in detailed electronics hardware design
* Strong understanding of electronics manufacturing processes
* Excellent attention to detail and a process-driven approach
* Ability to interpret legislation and implement compliant processes
* Strong organisational, communication, and time-management skills
* Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable working across multiple projects
Required Qualifications
* A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
Desirable Skills
* Experience working with subcontractors
* VHDL or Verilog experience
* Embedded C or Python experience
