Jedburgh Medical Practice
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our busy and expanding Administrative Team in the role of Patient Advisor.
This is an important front-facing role within the Practice, where you will be the first point of contact for patients and external agencies, ensuring they access the most appropriate services in a courteous, efficient, and professional manner.
Hours of Work (26 hours per week):
* Monday 8:30am-6pm
* Tuesday 12:30pm-6pm
* Wednesday 12pm – 6pm
* Friday 12pm-5pm
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will undertake a range of administrative and patient-facing duties, including:
* Receiving, assisting, and directing patients to the appropriate healthcare professional or service in a courteous and efficient manner
* Handling telephone and face‑to‑face enquiries from patients, secondary care, and external agencies, and directing them appropriately
* Booking appointments for GPs, Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, and Physiotherapists
* Issuing repeat prescriptions in line with practice guidelines
* Managing correspondence, including scanning letters onto patient records
* Accurately inputting clinical data, including outcomes from hospital clinics and practice appointments
* Copying and scanning health records in accordance with GDPR
* Supporting practice filing, storage, and archiving procedures
* Maintaining strict confidentiality at all times in line with Data Protection and Information Security Policies
* Using clinical systems such as EMIS and Docman on a daily basis
About You:
* Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Is organised and able to work in a busy environment
* Is confident using IT systems (experience with EMIS and Docman is desirable)
* Demonstrates a strong commitment to confidentiality and data protection
* Works well as part of a team and follows established protocols and procedures
