Infection Prevention and Control Nurse, Band 6

We are looking to recruit a Band 6 infection prevention and control Nurse (30 hours a week) for Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (GHNHSFT). The successful candidate will work closely with other team members across the One Gloucestershire System in the development and implementation of infection control practice in line with Trust and national requirements.
Responsibilities
* Participate in the prevention and control of healthcare‑associated infection within GHNHSFT.
* Collaborate with team members across the One Gloucestershire System to develop and implement infection control practice.
* Use evidence‑based IPC to challenge and innovate new practice to ensure safe service delivery.
* Support staff to maintain high standards of IPC, deliver infection prevention programmes and optimise management and treatment of patients with infections.
* Serve as a role model, providing professional advice and motivating others.
* Support patient ward rounds (e.g., nurse‑led C. difficile ward rounds and AMS ward rounds).
* Administer novel CDI therapies such as Faecal Microbiota Transplants.
* Advise and support staff with IPC issues.
* Complete IPC audits and surveillance, engage with wards and departments to support them in delivering remedial action plans.
* Teach on related study days and deliver and review educational packages.
* Attend and participate in division and system‑wide meetings.
* Attend external IPC conferences and regional meetings.
* Complete post‑infection reviews.
* Manage and monitor outbreaks.
* Lead and support quality improvement projects.
* Work system‑wide with key stakeholders and partners, including UKHSA, Occupational Health, NHSE.
* Engage in Trust‑wide shared decision making.
* Undertake research and write for publication.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
* NMC Registered.
* Strong interest in infection prevention and control.
* Demonstrate understanding of research and evidence‑based practice.
* Experience of report writing.
* Ability to work flexibly in response to the needs of the service and at all levels of the organisation.
* Ability to work on both hospital sites in the Trust.
* Resolve problematic situations / deal with difficult people.
* Develop effective working relationships with all disciplines across the Trust.
* Change management and problem‑solving skills, ability to influence others and effect change.
* Work independently and as part of a team.
* Demonstrate tact and diplomacy.
* Experience of teaching, training and staff development.
* Understanding of IPC practices / principles and basic microbiology.
* Experience of engaging in or supporting IPC‑related programmes.
* Confident in IT – Excel, Word, databases.
* Understanding of ethics, UK law and code of practice and guidelines.
* Knowledge of issues and legislation relating to the prevention and control of infection.
* Experience of undertaking audit and its implementation.
* Act as a role model.
* Quality improvement (QI) training and experience of engaging in QI work – ideally within IPC‑related programmes.
* Worked as an IPC link practitioner and / or IPC practitioner.

£39,959 to £48,117 a year (pa pro rata if part‑time).
