Engineer Blar Mhor
We are looking for a maintenance engineer to join our team based at our recently upgraded processing plant at Blar Mhor, Fort William.
If you are ambitious and motivated and want to work with a likeminded team, then this is the role for you. This post is offered on a full‑time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be required to work on a rotational shift pattern.
About the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with all relevant standards.
* Responding promptly to breakdowns and ensuring timely resolution.
* Carrying out planned preventive maintenance and reactive repairs on production equipment.
* Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
* Identifying and recommending improvements to equipment reliability and efficiency.
* Ensuring adherence to relevant standards, such as those associated with health & safety and food hygiene compliance.
* Developing H&S documentation within area of expertise.
* Identifying and recording safety issues such as near misses and accidents.
* Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and preventive maintenance programs.
* Communicating effectively with processing and quality team colleagues in relation to all engineering work.
Ideal candidate
Qualifications
* Completion of a recognised engineering time‑served apprenticeship in electrical, mechanical or multi‑skilled engineering to SVQ Level 3 or equivalent is essential.
* Higher education in electrical or mechanical engineering fields to HNC or HND level is advantageous.
Skills & Experience
* Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
* Knowledge of preventive maintenance and continuous improvement techniques.
* Strong troubleshooting and repair/maintenance skills (mechanical and electrical).
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Proficient using CMMS and basic IT tools, such as EAM and Safety Culture.
* Flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job.
* A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
* Ability to understand the aims of the site and to support the rest of the team to achieve these.
