Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a Digital Education Consultant to join our team and play a key role in shaping the future of blended learning in the coming year.
Salary: £44,247 rising to £50,379 per annum.
Contract: 12‑month fixed‑term maternity cover, full‑time (35 hours a week).
Closing date: 21‑Dec‑2025.
You’ll work closely with academic and administrative staff, designing, developing, and delivering innovative digital education solutions that enhance teaching, learning, and assessment across the University.
As Digital Education Consultant, You Will
* Provide educational advice and support for technology‑enhanced learning.
* Deliver staff development workshops and curriculum design sessions.
* Monitor and evaluate online learning quality using Birkbeck Baseline standards.
* Design and promote new e‑learning services aligned with institutional strategy.
* Contribute to digital education policy development and ensure compliance with accessibility and copyright legislation.
To Succeed As Digital Education Consultant, You Will Demonstrate
* Strong knowledge of VLEs (preferably Moodle) and key HE technologies (e.g., Panopto, Turnitin).
* Experience applying curriculum design frameworks for blended and online learning.
* Excellent problem‑solving, organisational, and communication skills.
* Ability to build interactive content and deliver engaging training sessions.
Birkbeck has made rapid progress transforming all modules to the ‘Birkbeck Blend’ and equipped our teaching estate with HyFlex technology. We are pioneering work in immersive learning; a new Immersive Learning Centre and a Centre for Creative AI will soon be established, offering many opportunities for involvement.
Your working day may involve consulting on module design, developing learning materials, running workshops, managing a project, or designing a Moodle plugin. Adaptability, communication, enthusiasm, and knowledge of the field are essential.
Salary And Benefits
From £44,247 rising to £50,379 per annum, Grade 7 on the College’s London Pay Scale, which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.

Contract Details
Fixed‑term, 1‑year contract (maternity cover), full‑time (35 hours a week) with office attendance once per week, and when necessary to support staff and attend meetings.
