Mon – Thurs: 08:00 – 16:00 | Fri: 06:00 – 12:00
About the Role of HGV Engineer
Are you an experienced PSV or HGV engineer looking for a less physically demanding role? We are recruiting a PSV MOT Engineer to join a friendly engineering team at a modern depot.
This role focuses on vehicle inspections and MOT preparation, rather than heavy repair work. You’ll help keep buses safe, compliant, and ready for the DVSA annual test, while enjoying a supportive workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities of the HGV Technician
Carry out pre-MOT inspections to high maintenance standards
Complete any minor remedial work identified during inspections
Take vehicles to authorised testing stations and present them for MOT
Complete annual Fire Risk Assessments on vehicles
Assist with other engineering tasks such as rota inspections, defect rectification, and occasional breakdowns
Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and documentationThis role is ideal for engineers who want to stay in PSV maintenance without heavy lifting or physically demanding work.
Requirements of the HGV Technician
Qualification or apprenticeship in PSV/HGV Mechanical Engineering (Electrical knowledge a bonus)
Experience working on PSV or HGV vehicles
Strong understanding of MOT standards and vehicle compliance
Ability to work independently and organise your own workload
Full UK driving licence (Cat D/PCV preferred – training can be provided)
