South Lanarkshire Council are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated Environmental Health Officer or Technical Officer within Environmental Services who can accept and tackle demanding goals to ensure effective service delivery.
The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking complex pieces of work potentially in relation to all aspects of Environmental Health work. However, they will primarily focus on Noise, Public Health, Housing and other Anti-Social Behaviour related legislation. The post is within our Environmental Night Team and requires the candidate to work shifts (4 on 4 off). The Out of Hours Service operates from 16:30 to 03:00, including public holidays. However, there is no Service Christmas Eve, Christmas Day nor Hogmanay or New Year’s Day. The shifts are 10 hours.
If applying for this post as an Environmental Health Officer (EHO), you should hold the relevant Post Graduate Qualification or equivalent, namely the REHIS (Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland - REHIS) Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Health which allows you to legally use the protected title in Scotland.
Whilst no equivalent qualification requires to be held by applicants for this post as a professional Technical Officer (TO) we would consider enforcement experience and/or noise qualifications (such as IoA Institute of Acoustics | Institute of Acoustics Anti-Social Noise Course (3day) and/or Certificate of Competence in Environmental Noise Monitoring (5day)) or equivalent related qualifications; desirable.
This is one permanent post being advertised. It can be filled by either an EHO or TO. There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this post.
