Main duties
* Provide comprehensive organisational and administrative support for the chemotherapy service at Bedford.
* Ensure the smooth day-to-day operational management of chemotherapy treatments.
* Be responsible for scheduling chemotherapy treatments after first cycle to fully utilise resources available within the unit.
* Support the chemotherapy coordinator in managing cancer waiting target lists.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Manage the chemotherapy booking diary on IQEMO to ensure full utilisation of chair capacity on a day to day basis.
* Manage own day to day workload and adhere to strict timescales working within the Trust and departmental policies and procedures.
* Escalate any concerns regarding capacity of treatment slots to the deputy service manager and chemotherapy unit team leader.
* Reschedule patients where treatment has been deferred ensuring that any review and phlebotomy appointments are adjusted accordingly.
* Answer telephone, emails and face to face enquiries in a professional and timely manner using tact, diplomacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications
* Good standard of general education.
* Evidence of further personal development.
* Training knowledge, acquired through formal training or experience to diploma level equivalent.
Experience
* Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing routine information.
* Experience of working in oncology/chemo unit.
* Experience of appointment procedures and processes.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of multidisciplinary team working.
* Knowledge of NHS IT systems.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Word package.
* Knowledge of chemotherapy treatments.
Skills
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Communication skills – written and verbal.
* Ability to work under pressure.
