Role Purpose To provide comprehensive support to the Engineering function within a busy bus depot by managing an efficient and proactive Stores department. This role is responsible for daily operations including stock monitoring, timely reordering, and processing deliveries. It ensures the Engineering team’s requirements are met by maintaining compliant back-office systems aligned with depot needs. Key Responsibilities Health & Safety Collaborate with the Engineering team to maintain a safe working environment for all. Take reasonable care to prevent harm to yourself and others through both action and inaction. Proactively identify and report unsafe conditions or behaviors within the depot or relating to road safety. Customer Service Provide a professional, friendly, and helpful response to internal and external customer enquiries. Ensure all queries are addressed promptly and thoroughly, escalating where necessary. Maintain a clean and organized stores environment, ensuring essential parts are ordered and available for the Engineering team. People & Culture Champion a culture that reflects Arriva’s values and fosters Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I). Provide a full Stores service to the Engineering Management team, including oversight of tooling, PPE, uniforms, stationery, and consumables. Build and maintain a positive, honest, and respectful working relationship with Trade Union representatives. Contribute to a workplace culture of trust, motivation, and employee pride. Quality Management Ensure accurate and timely ordering, storage, and stock checks of all parts, tooling, uniforms, and consumables. Maintain appropriate stock levels to meet operational needs without overstocking. Financial Responsibility & Decision-Making Manage Stores operations in a cost-effective manner, balancing operational efficiency with budget awareness. Continuous Improvement & Innovation Support ongoing process improvements and contribute ideas for enhanced efficiency. Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and peers across the UK Bus network to share and adopt best practices. Corporate Social Responsibility Act as an ambassador for Arriva’s reputation and values in all internal and external interactions. Promote ethical behavior and responsible business practices.
