For more information visit www.pxlimited.com Holbrook Biomass Plant is a 6.5MWe biomass fired combined heat and power station is designed to provide CO2 savings of over 210,000 Tonnes over the project life. The renewable energy generated is equivalent to that used to power about 12,000 homes. The plant uses around 55,000 tonnes of waste wood per year that may have traditionally gone to landfill. px Group took on responsibility for the operations and maintenance, performance, emission monitoring and ash disposal from the site, as well as managing the biomass fuel on site. The contract supported the px Group strategy to grow their footprint in green energy with partners around the UK. The Opportunity We are now recruiting for a Shift Controller. The Shift Controller supports and delivers safe, efficient and reliable operations of our 6.5MW waste wood biomass combined heat and power (CHP) plant. This comprises a 7MWe ORC Turbine Unit, two biomass boilers and all auxiliary and ancillary plant supporting the burning of waste wood fuel and power production. You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence. Key Responsibilities In accordance with instructions from the Operations Manager, lead the safe, efficient actioning of all operational functions including; start and stop of the turbine, boiler, pumps and other auxiliary equipment, synchronising of generator, operation of breakers from the CCR. Inform, co-ordinate & relay all pertinent information to the Operations Manager, ensuring production is in accordance with the terms of delivery issued by the Owner or the Electricity Purchaser. Optimise plant economic and environmental performance and consumables including chemicals, raw water and fuels. Collect, record and send required production data and daily reports, communications and messages to all stakeholders. Check and report all significant events in the daily logbook. Complete assigned SHEQ responsibilities and reporting, including permit to work, risk assessments and operating procedures. Complete &/or supervise planned and unplanned jobs, assigned to Operation’s Staff. Complete assigned maintenance responsibilities including tasks competent to complete and reporting via the site maintenance management system. Complete and maintain required training and competency activities, including Senior Authorised Person Status and associated responsibilities. Seek and improvements in plant performance and optimisations, report and procedure rationalisation, maintenance actions & system. Minimum Requirements: Level 3 qualification in a process or engineering discipline Hands-on operations experience gained in a 24/7 environment. Background contributing to continuous process /production/ operational environments. Fault diagnosis and problem solving. Experience in first line maintenance Experience following procedures, systems & processes. Knowledge of Safe System of Work processes & procedures including permit to work, Incident control, Risk assessments and method statements.
