Overview
Cleveland Fire Brigade have a vacancy for a permanent, Watch Manager Fire Safety Inspector. This opportunity is available for Grey Book applicants only. It is open to Watch Managers and Substantive Crew Managers.
Responsibilities
* A Fire Safety Inspector undertakes audits and other inspections of all regulated premises including complex and high risk premises in line with the Risk Based Inspection Programme and as directed by department managers.
* They may audit buildings based upon fire engineering principles however, should be cognisant of the scope of their competency and request appropriate assistance where necessary.
* Inspectors will investigate and report on breaches of fire safety legislation for the commencement of legal prosecutions. They are qualified to take formal enforcement action for a breach of fire safety legislation.
* They can report on submissions from building control bodies and advise on fire safety issues relating to the construction, demolition and/or refurbishment of regulated premises.
* An Inspector will support, mentor and assess peers in line with our quality assurance framework. They will assist in the development and support business engagement campaigns; they will work with other departments and partners to improve community safety.
