Responsibilities
Manage Crosslinking Service, support staff and assist in treatments. Perform Corneal Fluorescein Angiography/IV infusions, develop the Nurse‑led Service, and act as a mentor for junior staff, student nurses and apprenticeships. Oversee the smooth running of clinics, Crosslinking service, Eximer Laser and nurse‑led clinics. Work collaboratively with the Multi‑Professional team, patients and carers within the Corneal Service. Provide first‑line management and lead a team of specialist nurses. Set standards of care, conduct assessments, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care, and drive quality improvement through audit and education. Contribute to research, audit and practice development and support junior doctors, student nurses and imaging staff.
Qualifications
Required:
* Registered Clinician (NMC/HCPC)
* Post‑basic specialist qualification relevant to the speciality
* Recognised teaching qualification
* First degree
* Evidence of undertaking the relevant speciality successfully at Band 6
* Extensive clinical experience
* Evidence of management/leadership skills and staff management
* Involvement in audit
* Evidence of Diploma/Certification of independent prescriber (post‑reg) if required
* Computer‑literacy and ability to motivate self and others
Desirable:
* Research qualification or participation in research
* Recordable specialist qualification
* Masters degree
* Evidence of management or leadership qualification
* Teaching/assessment skills
* Organisation and negotiation skills
* Effective communication and diplomatic skills
* Ownership of audit, change management and root‑cause analysis
* Diploma in ECDL or similar
* Ability to travel between sites

Police Vetting and DBS
All successful applicants will be required to undergo a DBS check. The cost of the DBS application (standard £26.50 or enhanced £54.50) will be deducted from salary in manageable monthly instalments for up to 3 months following commencement of employment.
