Newbridge School requires a teacher of Science to start from September 2026.
About us
Newbridge School is a welcoming school of c.1000 pupils, with high standards of pupil achievement, teaching, and behaviour. The school is based just above Newport, with strong transport routes from the M4, Newport, Cardiff and the South Wales Valleys. All in the school community want to succeed, with strong parental support for the school and pupils who want to learn. A cornerstone of the school is a bespoke professional learning programme to help all staff develop in their careers. In 2024 we had a very positive Estyn inspection which highlighted: the very good behaviour of pupils across the school; positive, supportive relationships between teachers and pupils; our strong professional learning programme which is tailored carefully to staff's individual needs; and the high expectations of everyone in the school.
The Science Department is a large, dynamic, and high-achieving team, consistently delivering excellent results year after year. Beyond academic success, the department is committed to nurturing students’ curiosity and passion for science through a wide range of enriching opportunities. These include a strong emphasis on hands-on practical work in the laboratory, active participation in the Greenpower F24 electric car project, and an engaging forensic science club. Pupils also benefit from inspiring UK and international science trips, broadening their global perspective. Most recently, the department proudly joined the This is Engineering: Schools - Welsh Valleys initiative, an exciting collaboration with the Royal Academy of Engineering aimed at advancing STEM education and skill development across the region.
The successful applicant will have drive, enthusiasm and a passion for Science, and be determined to inspire and motivate pupils at all levels. You will be supported by an enthusiastic and welcoming department, with excellent opportunities for professional development both within the department and across the school.
Applications can be made through the online application form with a letter of application or sent directly to the Headteacher, Andrew Thompson, via the school's email address.
This is a main scale teaching post, appropriate for NQTs as well as experienced teachers.
