Contract Type: Permanent, Full time

The Opportunity

Based in our friendly Construction department, you will play a key role in leading and delivering our adult learning programmes at our state-of-the-art Clean Energy Training Centre. This dedicated facility focuses on Renewable Energy, Retrofit, and Sustainable Construction methods, supporting both industry demands and community needs.

You will guide the development of a modern, practical curriculum that reflects the latest in construction trends, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and low carbon technologies. You will take ownership of planning, delivering, and refining construction courses that help our learners build real, hands-on skills.

You will teach across a range of programmes and work closely with your colleagues to create high-quality learning experiences. Responsibilities include developing schemes of work, delivering lessons, setting and marking assessments, and ensuring learners stay on track to achieve their goals.

You will also manage delivery models, oversee course staffing, and focus on maintaining strong student attendance, retention, and success rates. Working with employers and industry partners, you will help shape course content to keep it relevant and responsive.

You will contribute to marketing and engagement activities, participate in events, and support recruitment for future learners. Additionally, you will lead a small team of staff supporting your course area, with training provided to develop your leadership skills.

You will contribute to course development independently or as part of a team, helping to expand the department’s offerings and respond to employer needs. Through your teaching, curriculum design, and leadership, you will help adult learners build the skills and knowledge necessary to progress in the evolving construction industry.

About You

We seek a candidate with a strong background in construction and at least two years' relevant experience as a lecturer or teacher in the field. You should possess technical expertise and a clear understanding of delivering high-quality teaching that supports learner achievement and progression.

Experience in curriculum review, development, and planning is essential, along with confidence in applying diverse teaching methodologies to meet different learning needs. Supporting students to succeed through constructive feedback and understanding adult learners’ pastoral needs is crucial.

You should be able to devise strategies to improve attendance, retention, achievement, and success rates, using data to inform decision-making and drive improvements. Strong verbal and written communication skills and good IT skills are required to support teaching, tracking, and reporting.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys collaborative working, stays current with industry standards, and is passionate about making a difference. If you are enthusiastic about construction, confident in your teaching, and prepared to lead a future-focused curriculum responsive to local and national needs, this is a great opportunity.
