We have a fantastic opportunity for a Data Centre Engineerto join our team based in Slough.
About the Role
This role supports our SloughData Center and plays a key part in maintaining the efficiency and integrity of our infrastructure operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to MACs (Moves, Adds, and Changes), assisting with new infrastructure builds, and facilitating the installation of SAN and Market Data equipment within SER and CER rooms.
In addition, you will manage and update our Data Centre Management Software, which serves as both our global asset tracking system and infrastructure design platform.
This is a full-time position, Tuesday to Saturday.
Responsibilities:
* Patching for server installs.
* Patching for server migration and relocation projects.
* SAN‐attached network patching.
* Distribution/ core layer patching.
* Management of requests and tasks to SLA.
* Infrastructure design and implementation, space allocation for kit.
* Hardware break‐fix (Hotswap chassis modules, xenpacks, SFP/ QSFP & PSUs).
* Rack and stack of servers and kit to cabinets.
* Change control implementation and change management experience.
* Possible call out service cover.
* Day‐to‐day running of the environment and issues, environment health checks and escalations.
* Receiving and management of stock and equipment for DC and its teams.
* Network patching experience (copper and fibre) install and break/ fix.
* Knowledge of copper termination and previous infrastructure installations.
* Change management processes.
* Understanding of criticality of support in a financial sector.
* Demonstration of good listening, oral and written communication required.
* An ability to assimilate technical details required for project delivery in a short time frame and in pressurized environment.
* Ability to manage and priorities workload effectively.
* Troubleshooting, ability to diagnose potential issues impacting programme and offer resolution.
Skills & Experiences:
* Experience of working in high risk environments preferred.
* Experience of working in DataCentres and cabling experience.
* Sound Knowledge of Infrastructure Technologies & Networking Concepts.
* Self‐motivated problem solver.
