Were looking for a Senior Design Engineer to lead value engineering initiatives across a broad range of components and systems. This is a technically focused role responsible for driving cost and process improvements through design optimisation, supplier engagement, and re-sourcing activities. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally to deliver robust engineering solutions and will play a key role in mentoring junior engineers and promoting best practices across the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and deliver engineering solutions that improve the value of current and future components and processes.
Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through collaborative, cross-functional work.
Engage with international suppliers to define and agree component specifications.
Manage technical project delivery to meet defined cost, time, and quality targets.
Support less experienced team members, providing guidance and promoting high standards.
Contribute to risk assessment and mitigation planning.
Follow and challenge existing processes to improve overall department efficiency.
Requirements:
Degree-qualified in Mechanical or related Engineering discipline.
Minimum 2 years' experience in a mechanical design role within a manufacturing environment.
Strong technical judgement and problem-solving skills.
Prior experience in value engineering or cost-reduction projects.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Fluent in written and spoken English.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
