The opportunity
We are seeking a bilingual (Mandarin and English) Chinese Market Business Development Director to expand Relation’s reach and insight across the Chinese biotech and pharma landscape. This individual will combine search and evaluation expertise with deep regional understanding—identifying cutting‑edge companies, emerging assets, and potential partnership opportunities within China’s rapidly evolving ecosystem. The role bridges BD and competitive intelligence, supporting Relation’s broader strategic objectives to anticipate scientific and commercial shifts globally.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify, assess, and monitor emerging Chinese biotech and pharma companies across therapeutic areas
* Conduct search and evaluation of assets and potential partnerships for Relation’s pipeline and platform
* Attend conferences and networking events in China to represent Relation and expand its local network
* Monitor market and industry developments, highlighting competitive or strategic implications
* Collaborate closely within the BD team to integrate China market insights into broader strategy
Professional background
* Fluency in Mandarin (both written and spoken) essential
* Experience within biotech or consulting with clear exposure to Chinese market dynamics
* Track record in business development, search & evaluation, or competitive intelligence roles
* Strong understanding of biopharma trends in China and global biotech ecosystems
* Ability to perform asset analysis, scientific due diligence, and valuation modelling
Personal attributes
* Networked, proactive, and culturally fluent
* Analytical with a strong grasp of scientific and market drivers
* Excellent communicator, able to bridge East–West business interactions
* Adaptable, resourceful, and impact‑oriented
* Willingness to travel regularly to China for conferences and partner meetings
