Behaviour Support Assistant (SEND/SEMH & ASD) - Taunton Location: Taunton Start Date: June / September 2026 Daily Rate: £95 - £120 (dependent on experience) Contract: Full-time, long-term We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join a lovely and supportive ASD specialist school in Taunton. This is a full-time, long-term role with opportunities to start in June or September 2026. About the Role This is a varied and rewarding position where you will support students both within the school setting and as part of outreach projects in the community. You will be working with pupils across both primary and secondary age groups, supporting their learning, behaviour, and emotional development. Key Responsibilities Provide behaviour support on a 1:1 and small group basis Work with students in school and support outreach activities Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour Support learning across primary and secondary pupils Build strong, trusting relationships with students Promote a positive and inclusive environment About the Pupils / Job Specification The school supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, which may include: Anxiety, low mood, or emotional regulation difficulties Behavioural challenges, including oppositional behaviours Additional needs such as ADHD, attachment disorders, or anxiety disorders Students benefit from consistent support, patience, and a strong focus on positive reinforcement and praise.
