About the Job
Based across our offices in Cowley, Swindon, Ruislip, and Slough. This role will support the delivery of a major scheme for one of our key clients. This is an exciting opportunity for a socially conscious individual to contribute to our mission and create a lasting positive impact within local communities.
Responsibilities
* Coordinating and delivering social value initiatives in line with the framework social value commitments.
* Monitor our activities against the framework social value plan to ensure targets are being met, highlighting areas of concern to the Environmental & Sustainability Manager.
* Attend and contribute to regular meetings with the Social Value Lead, providing updates, insights, and identifying opportunities, gaps or risks.
* Monitor performance against the Social Value targets and KPIs, identifying risks, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
* Capture data, monitor performance against Social Value targets and create reports on performance for the client and OCU management team to show how we are performing against our targets.
* Track and evidence outputs and outcomes (e.g. volunteering hours, local spend, employment, STEM engagement).
* Create relationships with other community groups where there are opportunities to deliver social value initiatives.
* Collaborate with the client to coordinate joint volunteering days ensuring strong representation from OCU employees.
* Coordinate charitable events on site and with local teams.
* Promote STEM Ambassadors on the Framework and share opportunities for school engagement and other volunteering activities.
* Create relationships with local schools and coordinate STEM activities, career talks and other school engagement activities.
* Work with the learning & development team and the contract management team to facilitate work experience opportunities with local schools and colleges, creating a programme for the experience to ensure a positive experience for the young person.
* Carry out local needs assessments to identify where and what social value initiatives to target.
* Produce high-quality press releases, internal communications, case studies, and social media content to promote project activities and social value initiatives.
* Work with marketing to promote and share social value initiatives being delivered.
* Consult with recruitment team to identify local employment opportunities.
* Support subcontractors in understanding and delivering social value commitments, monitor and report supply chain contributions to social value.
* Attend project meetings to identify upcoming opportunities for social value delivery and ensure social value requirements are considered at planning and delivery stages.
Qualifications
* Excellent verbal communication and people skills with an ability to engage with a variety of people externally and at all levels within the organisation.
* Sound understanding of social value and delivering benefits to communities.
* Practical experience or collaboration with communities, community groups or schools.
* Good written communication skills, with the ability to write high-quality, simple reports and information for communities.
* Good analytical skills and diligence, with the ability to collect, analyse, and interpret social value data.
* Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve social value objectives.
* Ability to travel to company sites and project locations as needed.
* Commitment to promoting sustainability and social value.
* Previous experience in a social value role is highly desirable.
