We value our talented employees, and whenever possible strive to help colleagues to grow and progress in their future careers. We recognise that our people are our biggest asset. We hope you’ll be as excited as we are by what lies ahead. Let's continue our journey. Thank you for your patience during this update The University of Hull is working on an EU funded project entitled “IDEAL - Innovation-Driven Entrepreneurship and Academic Learning for creative industries project". You can find out more about this project here. The project's aim is to enhance the quality and competitiveness of HEIs by strengthening operations, staff capacity, developing innovation structures and services, supporting entrepreneurship and related technology transfer processes. By leveraging the strengths and expertise of HEIs and fostering collaborations with innovation stakeholders and the private sector, the project aims to enhance regional innovation capabilities, attract and retain talent, and drive economic opportunities for start-ups. All such measures are especially needed to provide adequate support to students and researchers willing to establish and run start-ups, and develop entrepreneurship competencies, as they are often lacking in knowledge, funds, and capacity to innovate. Key activities include upgrading HEI curricula with creative and entrepreneurial training programs, delivering mentoring, and supporting start-ups in high-impact areas of fashion, digital design, and media. These efforts will be complemented by establishing robust networks that connect HEIs with industry, research organizations, and societal stakeholders to promote knowledge exchange and cross-sector collaboration. The University of Hull is proud to be a partner in IDEAL – Innovation-Driven Entrepreneurship and Academic Learning for Creative Industries, an exciting EU-funded initiative focused on enhancing innovation, entrepreneurship, and skills development in higher education. Through this project, we’re helping to equip students, graduates, and researchers with the tools they need to turn creative ideas into viable, high-impact ventures. IDEAL brings together universities, industry partners, and innovation networks across Europe to boost regional innovation, support start-up creation, and strengthen knowledge exchange between higher education institutions and the creative industries — particularly in fashion, digital design, and media. Key activities include developing entrepreneurial training, providing mentoring and startup support, and embedding innovation into university curricula. At Hull, this aligns closely with our bold vision for a fairer, brighter, and carbon-neutral future, as set out in our University Strategic Plan 2030. Our Knowledge Exchange (KE) Directorate plays a crucial role in delivering this vision, supporting student and graduate entrepreneurship, developing innovation pipelines, and building partnerships that drive impact and economic growth. This is a great opportunity to be part of a collaborative, forward-looking project that directly supports our strategic priorities while delivering meaningful, real-world outcomes. Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the post The Entrepreneurship Coordinator will lead the delivery of immersive design-focused entrepreneurship support as part of the University’s participation in the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) Higher Education Initiative. The post holder will help students and graduates develop, launch, and grow start-up ventures in immersive technologies (e.g. Immersive Technology including AR/VR, XR, 3D visualisations including 3D prototyping, 3D scanning; Computer Graphic, Computer Games and gamified experience, AI Driven Design, Digital Twin; Immersive Media), fostering innovation, enterprise skills, and industry engagement. Startup Support & Programme Delivery Support students and recent graduates to explore, develop, and launch startup ventures through tailored advice, events, and hands-on programming. Design and deliver workshops, competitions, and structured entrepreneurship support aligned to EIT HEI and institutional goals. Provide light-touch mentoring, connect founders with expert clinics, and refer them to wider business support networks. Incubation Management Oversee the University’s on-campus incubation space, including tenant management, service coordination, and compliance with Health & Safety requirements. Ensure a dynamic and supportive environment that encourages innovation, startup survival, and growth beyond the incubation phase. Cross-Institutional Collaboration Work collaboratively with academic, student support, and professional services teams to integrate entrepreneurship into the wider student experience. Champion interdisciplinary engagement and leverage institutional expertise, facilities, and networks to enhance start-up support. Stakeholder Engagement & External Representation Act as a key contact for enterprise activities, representing the University in external networks, EIT HEI communities, and regional innovation ecosystems. Build and maintain partnerships with business advisors, funding bodies, accelerators, and other innovation support organisations. Monitoring, Reporting & Impact Measurement Maintain accurate records and produce reports on student startups, engagement levels, and programme impact for internal committees and external funders (e.g. Knowledge Exchange reporting). Promote continuous improvement by sharing best practice and benchmarking enterprise initiatives across the University. Communications & Outreach Manage the Enterprise Centre and Startup Studios social media accounts to raise awareness and drive participation in entrepreneurship activities. Promote opportunities, successes, and impact stories from students and graduate entrepreneurs to internal and external audiences. Other Responsibilities Support student engagement with university spinouts and innovation-led ventures where appropriate. Undertake other duties as required, commensurate with the role’s grade and aligned with the institution’s enterprise and innovation strategies. Please note that this is a fixed-term part time (22.5 hours per week) contract for 14 months for the IDEAL project. Please find a copy of the full job description here. For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Sarah Agar-Brennan, Head of Commercialisation and Business Development, e: S.Agar-Brennan@hull.ac.uk Please note that the positions closes at 00:01am on Tuesday 17 February. To ensure your application is considered, please ensure that you submit your application in enough time.
