The role contributes directly to guest comfort, cleanliness, and the overall presentation of the hotel. About the Hotel This position is based at The Glencoe House Hotel, in Glencoe. Glencoe House, built by Lord Strathcona in 1896, sits majestically overlooking Scotland's most famous Highland landscape. The stunning property has been lovingly restored and contains two distinctive concepts, both of which offer elegant but relaxed and sumptuous suites. Key Responsibilities Laundry Duties Operate the in-house laundry in line with hotel procedures, ensuring all linen, towels, bedding, and relevant items are cleaned, dried, pressed, and stored correctly. Sort laundry appropriately and follow care instructions to prevent damage to fabrics. Maintain agreed linen stock levels and report shortages, damage, or losses. Use laundry machinery and chemicals safely, in line with training and health and safety guidance. Identify and report equipment faults or maintenance issues promptly. Housekeeping Duties Service guest suites to the required standard, including bed making, bathroom cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, and replenishment of amenities. Clean and maintain public areas and back-of-house spaces as directed. Work to daily task lists and schedules, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and within required timeframes. Handle furnishings, fixtures, and finishes carefully, recognising the historic nature of the building. General & Team Responsibilities Follow all health, safety, hygiene, and COSHH procedures at all times. Work cooperatively with other housekeeping team members to meet operational needs. Communicate clearly with the Housekeeping Supervisor and House Managers regarding workload, issues, or concerns. Provide courteous and professional assistance to guests when required. Maintain a professional appearance and conduct in line with company standards. Person Specification Essential Ability to carry out repetitive tasks and manual handling associated with laundry and housekeeping duties. Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work. Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions and procedures. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Desirable Previous experience in a housekeeping or laundry role. Experience working in a hotel or similar environment. Working Conditions The role involves manual handling, repetitive movements, standing for extended periods, and working across a large, multi-level building. The role may involve working shifts, including weekends and public holidays, in line with business needs.
